The spectrum of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on the two-dimensional torus in adiabatic limit

We obtain an asymptotic formula for the eigenvalue distribution function ofthe Laplace-Beltrami operator on the two-dimensional torus in the adiabaticlimit given by a Kronecker foliation. Related problems in number theory arediscussed.
